Meticulous planning, dedicated efforts ensured RSS growth: Bhayyaji Joshi

ABPS Jaipur 2013-2Jaipur, March 15: Meticulous planning at micro-levels coupled with determined and sustained efforts of thousands of dedicated activists throughout the year that has gone by, there has been a continuous spurt in the overall growth of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) work both in terms of quantity and quality throughout the country.

This was the observation made by RSS General Secretary Suresh alias Bhayyaji Joshi in his annual report on the multi-faceted activities and programs the organization conducted to spread the thought of Hindutva all over the country.

Joshi presented his report highlighting the overall growth of the Hindutva school of thought to which the RSS and its allied organizations owe allegiance, at the opening day of the three-day mega conclave of RSS known as Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha (ABPS) in the RSS parlance which began today at the premises of Keshav Vidyapeeth, Jamdoli, near Jaipur.

After making the initial obituary references, Joshi said that the participation of thousands of swayamsevaks in RSS training camps, enthusiastic response of the masses to the programs of “Mass Suryanamaskar” on the occasion of Rathsaptami; spontaneous public participation in lakhs in 150th birth anniversary celebrations of Swami Vivekananda throughout the country and partaking of thousands of youths in ‘Sarhad ko Pranam”, a program sponsored by Forum for Internal Security (FINS) indicated to the fact that the situation was ripe for spread of Hindutva thought in the country. Never before the situation was so conducive and amiable for consolidating the Sangh work and accomplishing the target of uniting the society under the banner of Hindutva, the RSS General Secretary said in his report.

Among the programs the RSS organized to attract the youth towards its mission the annual summer training camps recorded participation of 16,615 swayamsevaks coming from 10,651 places. The RSS organized 52 such camps at 50 places in the country last year which included the Third Year training camp at Nagpur. Besides, the special training camps for senior swayamsevaks recorded the attendance of 1986 swayamsevaks coming from 1516 places.

The number of shakhas considered to be backbone of the RSS work, has gone up to 42,981 in 28,788 places in addition to 9557 weekly get together and 7178 monthly gatherings of RSS sympathizers. Joshi said that this growth in the shakha work was result of good planning to improve the quality of the activists and increase the number of the shakhas.

ABPS Jaipur 2013-Referring to special programs held during the year under review the RSS General Secretary listed Prahar Yagya that was held in 15924 shakhas where 166,959 swayamsevaks participated and achieved the target of 5,71,76,520 prahars. Special intellectual training workshop for selected 78 swayamsevaks was organized by the Bouddhik vibhag while the Prachar vibhag which deals with the media organized workshops for letter writers, TV panelists, and felicitated 182 journalists on the occasion of ‘Narad Jayanti’. The 31 ‘Jagaran Patrikas’ brought out by various Vishwa Samvad Kendras of RSS have a reach of 1.7 lakh villages in the country. The RSS was also using the social media to increase its base among the media-savvy generation of the youths.

Joshi further mentioned the mega camps organized in South Bengal in which 9115 youths of the 15-40 age group coming from 2052 places of the region participated. The valedictory function registered the presence of 25000 public at Kalyani. Similarly, a ‘Hindu Chaitanya Shivir’ was held in Eastern Andhra Pradesh which saw the participation of 17233 swayamsevaks from 2404 places. Over 1.25 lakh people visited the exhibition about Indian intellectual prowess. Ten thousand mothers attended the ‘Matrisammelan’ while 960 attended the get together of intellectuals. 60000 attended the concluding program.

Western Andhra Pradesh unit organized a ‘Ghosh Tarang’, a special camp for band unit in which 865 swayamsevaks participated and 8000 public attended the closing ceremony. Malwa Prant get together witnessed massive participation of 83,345 swayamsevaks from 3991 places and all the localities of urban areas. Similar enthusiasm was visible at Mangalore where 85347 swayamsevaks attended the ‘Vibhag Sanghik’. They came from 1080 villages and 2786 localities of the region. All these huge gatherings were held on the basis of oral instructions thus exhibiting the strength of the organization.

Konkan region held a three-day camp for college students on the occasion of 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda in which 1467 students participated. Jaipur held a training camp for senior activists which saw participation of 6968 activists from 1946 places.

In north Tamil Nadu mass Suryanamaskars were organized in which 10,721 swayamsevaks of all the 675 shakhas performed 2,22,932 Suryanamaskars.

Joshi said that all these programs gave the glimpse of the RSS’ organizational prowess. He added that the follow up plans were being worked out to consolidate this strength for the future.

The RSS embarked upon a massive campaign to celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda all over the country. Under this on December 25 last year a ‘sankalp diwas’ was observed throughout the country in which 4,46,969 male and 90715 female volunteers from 9370 places were administered ‘sankalp’. The processions throughout the country evoked massive response recording the presence of over 48 lakh people and the collective suryanamaskar program witnessed participation of 64,17,401 students of 26597 schools from 6697 places besides 7,25,400 citizens making a records of sorts in the history.

Similarly  the ‘Vishal Hindu Sangam’ held at Bodla village in Chhattisgarh was participated by 1.25 lakh villagers who came to listen to the revered Shankaracharya Vasudevananda Saraswati and RSS Chief Dr Mohan Bhagwat. Dr Raman Singh, Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh was also present.

In Sri Lanka too Hindu Sangam was held under the auspices of Swami Vivekananda Saardh Shati Samiti in presence of 10000 people.    

Commenting on the present national scenario the RSS General Secretary attracted the attention towards Pakistan’s conspiracy to intrude into our borders; continued infiltration from across the Bangladesh border under the planned conspiracy; the recent violent outbursts in Assam’s Kokrajhar district; appeasement of minorities by the power-hungry politicians; suspicious arms deals and growing violence against women in the country.   

Referring to the meeting of the VHP Margdarshak Mandal that concluded at Allahabad Kumbh Mela, the RSS observed that after the clear verdict of the Allahabad High Court on Ramjanmabhoomi, the land should be handed over to the Hindus by the Muslim society thus paving the way for communal harmony and peace. Stating that the hurdles in the way of construction of a grand temple at Ayodhya were not yet cleared, the RSS General Secretary appealed to the Hindu society to follow the directives of the Margdarshak Mandal and participate in Mahajagaran and Mahaanushthan programs to generate the awakened power of the Hindu society to pave the way for the temple.
