Seva Bharati organizes Hastkala camp at Khonsa

undefinedItanagar, July 28: A week-long Hastkala camp, organized by Seva Bharati Arunachal Pradesh, has commenced at the community hall, Khonsa on July 23. The programme was inaugurated by Sontung Bangsia (Lowang), the ZPM of Khela-Lamsa Block.

In the inaugural function, Joykumar Sharma, Seva Bharati’s NE region handicraft in-charge, briefed the gathering about the organization’s activities in handicraft field. He said that the trainees will be trained to make various types of items like teddy, Sonapari doll, dog, Manipuri doll, ceramic pot etc.

ADTH C Rajkumari told that GoI has initiated various schemes to help the handicraft artisans. Handicraft products are getting global acceptance for durability, economy and protection of environment. She urged the participants that they should actively participate in the initiatives of this sort taken by Seva Bharati.

Sontung Bangsia, the coordinator of the camp suggested that through SHGs women can create income generating source which will help them improve their economic condition.

Seva Bharati aims at creating awareness and scope for the educated unemployed youth as well as school dropouts to take up self-employment ventures and income-generating activities in Arunachal Pradesh.

She highlighted the importance of training and requested Seva Bharati to conduct training programs on fashion designing, bamboo craft, pickle and jam manufacturing in future at Khonsa.

A total of 42 participants registered their names for the training.
