ABVP salutes Indian Army jawans for heroic role in U'khand

undefinedNew Delhi, July 3: Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) today observed ‘Sena Ko Naman” (Salutations to the Army) programme all over the country to congratulate the brave soldiers of Indian Army and to commemorate their heroic deeds in rescue and relief operations for those thousands of pilgrims who found themselves trapped in the recent natural disaster in Uttarakhand.

At a program in New Delhi held at India Gate, the ABVP members gathered in thousands to pay their respects to the brave securitymen who risking their own lives rescued those trapped pilgrims from that difficult situation.

The students observed a two-minute silence to pay homage to those soldiers who sacrificed their lives while saving the pilgrims.

ABVP General Secretary Umesh Datt said that all the pilgrims have been shifted to safer places now with the help of the security personnel and voluntary organizations.

Datt said that ABVP student activists would visit 1000 villages in Uttarakhand to survey the damage caused by this natural disaster which totally devastated the Land of Gods. The ABVP activists would also see that relief material was reaching the needy in a smooth manner.

The ABVP would contribute in rebuilding of schools, furniture, providing books and notebooks and writing material to students. The ABVP would collect funds for this mission, he said.

ABVP all India joint Organizing Secretary Sunil Bansal said that the ABVP has organized such programs all over the country to salute the brave personnel of Indian Army and other agencies like ITBP who devoted themselves for saving the trapped pilgrims. He said that on behalf of the millions of students he saluted the soldiers for their heroic deeds in Uttarakhand.

ABVP Delhi unit convener Rohit Chahal congratulated the Army and the Air Force and said that the youth was very much impressed and inspired by these acts of heroism by them. They all intend to join the armed forces, he said thanking the police for providing security to this program.
