Auckland, October 10: At a meeting in New Zealand this week, the International Cricket Council, ICC is set to approve plans for its long-awaited World Test Championship. The Test Championship was scheduled to be in 2017 but ICC’s busy schedule delayed the longer format championship.

To boost the popularity of the test format ICC was planning the test championship for many years as the crowd is getting attracted towards the shorter formats. The five days format is challenged by the other two shorter formats regarding the TRPs as the youngsters or younger generations find T20 formats more entertaining and time-saving game.

The test championship which was set to launch since 2010 was surrounded by the controversies that some nations will be disadvantaged with this championship. It is said that the nine-nation test championship will be commenced on a concept that will be decided at a meeting in Auckland on Friday.

The first edition of the test championship would run for over two-year cycle beginning in 2019, and the final will be played at Lords.
