Notably, security forces firstly gunned down Jaish-e-Muhammad chief Abu Khalid in a fierce encounter that took place at Ladura village of Baramulla district in north Kashmir. On the other side, three top Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists including its chief recruiter Zahid were also killed in an encounter in Shopian district.

According to the official sources, Khalid along with his aide opened fired at army team patrolling near Baramulla-Handwara highway. However, security forces immediately retaliated to this heavily Khalid was injured but he escaped from the encounter site and took shelter in a building at Ladura village. Security forces asked Khalid to surrender but he opened fire and in retaliation, he was eliminated.

Meanwhile, three Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists were killed in a separate gunbattle with the security forces in the Keller area of Shopian district. Those killed included Zahid, the chief recruiter of the Hizbul Mujahideen in the Kashmir Valley while two others have been identified as Irfan and Ashif.

Importantly, Khalid was the operational commander of JeM in north Kashmir. Khalid was allegedly behind several Fidayeen attacks on security forces in the region. He had infiltrated to India between July and August this year.

Interestingly, curbing terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir is the topmost agenda of Indian security forces. Therefore, Anti-Terrorism operation is continued with such a speed that at least 160 terrorists are eliminated by Indian troops in a time period of only 10 months.
