The suspect was brought to the police station by the Texas Tech Police Officers for a standard briefing. During the investigation, the suspect pulled out a gun and shot an officer in the head, killing him. The suspect then fled on foot and remains at large.

At around 9.34, the Texas Tech University gave an all-clear message that the suspect has been apprehended within one hour and the Lockdown has been lifted on campus. So, to avoid Texas Tech Police Department and the north side of campus, the university has appealed to the citizens.
