Justice done! LeT terrorist Tunda convicted for life imprisonment in 1996 double bomb blast case

Sonipat, October 10: The verdict on Haryana’s 1996 Sonipat double bomb blast case has been finally made by the Sonipat court. The Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) bomb expert and Terrorist Abdul Kareem Tunda found guilty and has been given a punishment of Life Imprisonment on Tuesday. On Monday, Tunda was convicted in the case by the court.

 

Tunda was also fined for Rs.50,000 for two different cases of u/s 307, 120B and section 3 of Explosive Substance Act. In September, during the hearing, Tunda in his statement said that at the time of the incident he was in Pakistan.

 

On 28th December 1996 at 5.15 pm near Baba cinema in Sonipat the first bomb was blasted and within 10 minutes another bomb blasted at Geeta Bhavan Chowk due to which 16 people were injured.

Syed Abdul Karim also known as Tunda, was an alleged bomb maker of terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba, and is known for masterminding for many bombings in India. He was arrested by Indian authorities on 16 August at the India-Nepal border.
