No ban on firecrackers in Maharashtra: Environment Minister Ramdas Kadam

Mumbai, Oct 12: In a surprising move Environment Minister and senior Shiv Sena Leader today announced that state government has no plan to ban firecrackers to control the pollution in the state.

Reversing his decision after a close doored meeting with Maharashtra Firecracker Association, Kadam stated that state admonition will not pass any order to impose a ban on the sale or use of firecrackers.

According to media reports, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray was reportedly present during the meeting of Maharashtra Firecracker Association with the Environment Minister.

Earlier, the senior Shiv Sena leader took a firm stand and urged Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to take the final call to ensure a pollution-free Diwali.
