Suu Kyi emphasizes on fast rehabilitation, resettlement process in Northern Rakhine of Myanmar

Yangon, October 12: As locals of Rakhine state in Myanmar is facing a long-term misery due to several conflicts, the state counselor Aung San Suu Kyi prioritized rehabilitation and resettlement in northern Rakhine State over other things. The Union Government has initiated the process to take special measures for humanitarian aid, rehabilitation and resettlement.

On Wednesday, a coordination meeting on Rakhine State was held at the National Reconciliation and Peace Centre in Nay Pyi Taw. The important officials discussed the effective supply of humanitarian aid to the people in the areas.

One of the Union Ministers who toured conflict areas and met with local people along with ambassadors from five neighboring countries on Tuesday reported on findings from the trip. The present security situation, proper implementation of recommended works, ongoing rehabilitation and construction works for the villagers have also been reported by others.

Myanmar is showing its urge to solve the problem of migrants through the national verification process, negotiation with Bangladesh. The Government of the country has already announced that it will carry out the verification and repatriation of refugees in accordance with the agreed criteria set out in the Joint Statement between Foreign Ministers of Myanmar and Bangladesh in 1992.
