Russian Defense Ministry claims about 92% of Syrian territory freed from IS

Moscow, October 13: Since when civil war broke out in Syria, Russia has been supporting Syrian military to remove the rebels from the country, especially IS terrorists. Russian Defense Ministry claimed that about 92% of the Syrian territory has been freed from militants of the Islamic State terrorist group.On Friday weekly infographics published by the Russian Defense Ministry’s Krasnaya Zvezda newspaper released the data.

517 combat sorties were performed by Russian Aerospace Forces in last week. The force destroyed over 1,260 facilities controlled by international terrorist groups.

In last month Russia’s military said Syrian armed forces supported by the Russian Air Force regained control of 87.4 percent of the country. It also added that Russian warplanes had destroyed over 96,000 terrorist targets in the course of the two-year campaign.

Russia continuously kept attacking oil fields and oil planes which are believed to be the main source of income of terrorists. Russian warplanes have inflicted serious damage to those oil infrastructures. The Air Force of Russia destroyed a total of 212 oil fields and 184 oil plants and refineries.
