Law Minister to raise violent extremism, terrorism at Commonwealth meet

New Delhi, October 14: Starting from October 16 to 19, Commonwealth meeting of Law ministers will be held in Bahamas in which the Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad will be leading the delegation and he will raise the issues of violent extremism and terrorism. Prasad will also touch the topic of giving the subsidy to the needy people by wiping out the middlemen and using Jandhan account, mobile and Aadhar card.

 

Talking about terrorism he said that we will also talk about counter-terrorism measures in the Commonwealth. Since more and more extremist groups are using online means to recruit people, we will also flag the issue of insulating the ICT (information and communications technology) means.


He further said that the issue of climate change and elimination of child marriage will be raised during the meeting. This meeting provides an opportunity to the delegates by improving the collaboration among the countries. The delegates will share the best practices and also a common legal tradition.


Commonwealth Law Ministers Meeting (CLMM) 2017 will be held between October 16-19, 2017 at the Baha Mar Convention Center, Nassau, New Providence, The Bahamas under the theme 'Strengthening The Rule of Law Through Technology'. This meeting is held in every three years. Commonwealth Law Ministers Meeting [CLMM] is unique in the legal calendar. It is the only high-level event to bring together Law Ministers and Attorneys-General from both developing and developed countries on every continent in the world.
