Hong-Kong based freighter sinks off in Philippine coast; 10 crew members missing

Manila, October 14: Ten crew members of the Hong-Kong registered freighter went missing after the carriage sank in the rough seas of the Philippine coast. It is said that 26 crew members were aboard and 16 people have been rescued.

 

According to the local media, from a location about 150 nautical miles off the Philippines' eastern coast, a disquiet call was alerted on Friday from the freighter. It is said that 26 crew members, were aboard said the Japan’s coast guard.

 

He further added that the four other freighters have joined the search operation three freighters have rescued 16 of the crew members while the fourth one is in the area where the Hong-Kong freighter is believed to be sunk.

 The cause of the sinking is yet to discover while two patrol aircrafts and three patrol boats are deployed into the search operations. The local media said that 11 crew members were successfully rescued by the cargo ship from Malta namely Densa Cobra, while five were rescued by SM Samarinda, a cargo ship from the Marshall Islands.
