No links of Sanatan Sanstha in GauriLankesh murder case; Personal rivalry suspected

Bengaluru, October 14: Special Investigation Team SIT headed by BK Singh which is carrying out an investigation to solve the Gauri Lankesh murder case, today refuted the links of Sanatan Sanstha behind Lankesh murder case and drawn the possible reason as ‘personal rivalry’ behind the murder. Also, the SIT released the sketches of the suspects who shot Gauri Lankesh outside her residence. 

SIT team headed by BK Singh said “Based on the information collected during the investigation, we have prepared sketches of suspected accused persons of this case. The murder was not the result of her journalistic work but that Lankesh was also an activist and there were other angles which included personal angles that it would probe ahead.”

 
 
 

SIT released the video which shows the suspects carried out the recce outside her house. Lankesh was shot multiple times outside her home in Raja Rajeshwari Nagar at around 8 pm on 5 September by unknown persons. With the bullets from her body and empty cartridges, the SIT identified that a 7.65mm country made weapon was used to carry out the killing. The suspects aged between 25 and 35 and stayed in Bengaluru for at least one week before committing the crime, said BK Singh.

“We investigated 200-250 people in connection with the case. The suspects we zeroed in on are between 25 and 30 years old,” Singh added. The 150-member SIT is headed by Inspector General of Police BK Singh. The state government had announced Rs 10 lakh reward to anyone giving information leading to the killers.
