New Delhi, October 16: Infiltration of terrorists from Pakistani side to India has gone down gradually due to the alertness of Indian security forces. But still, infiltration is on as Indian forces had to face severe geographical conditions and climatic conditions. Notably, 70 terrorists belonging to Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad terror outfit had managed to infiltrate into the Valley this year.

The Multi-Agency Centre (MAC) which comprises security and intelligence officials for assessing the ground situation said that at least 70 terrorists from the Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad managed to sneak into the Valley this year.

According to the data available with different security agencies revealed that 70 new terrorists have been able to infiltrate into Kashmir since January this year. Last year, the estimated net infiltration was 112 compared to 33 in 2015. Similarly, estimated net infiltration was 65 in 2014 compared to 97 in 2013.

A senior Army officer said that mostly terrorists of Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed have managed to infiltrate this year. Though the estimated infiltration is 70, it is less than last year,” senior Army officer added. “Around 60 to 70 more terrorists are waiting on the launch pads for infiltration across the Line of Control (LoC) in North Kashmir so we expect more action in coming months,” senior Army officer noted.

Interestingly, more than 166 militants have been killed by security forces in different anti-militancy operations across Kashmir this year so far. Unfortunately, sixty-four security men were martyred in the line of duty this year.

The slain terrorists included over a dozen top commanders including Jaish-e-Mohammad chief Abu Khalid, Abu Musaib, the nephew of Mumbai terror attack mastermind and Lashkar-e-Taiba leader, Zaki-ur Rehman Lakhvi, Lashkar-Toiba Kashmir chief Abu Dujana, Hizbul Mujahideen commander Sabzar Ahmad Bhat, Amarnath attack mastermind and Lashkar-Toiba Kashmir chief Abu Ismail and others. There are over 220 militants active in Kashmir.
