With motto of Sarvatra Sarvottam Surakhsha, NSG celebrates 33rd Raising day in Haryana

Manesar, October 16: Formed in the year 1984, The National Security Guard (NSG) is celebrating its 33rd raising day on Monday in Manesar of Haryana. It was started following the operation Blue Star for tackling the terrorist activities and to protect states against internal disturbances under the authority of Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).

 

The Chief Guest at the 33rd Raising Day function of the National Security Guard (NSG) was the Vice President of India, M.Venkaiah Naidu. Along with Naidu, the Cabinet Minister of Haryana government RB Sharma and Lok Sabha MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy were also present.

 

Addressing the raising day, Vice President said that over last 33 years, NSG has successfully handled terrorist & hijack situations, defining the role in Akshardham, Mumbai and Pathankot attacks. He further added that NSG has always risen to occasion to ward off challenges. By countering terrorist or counter hijack operations or protection of people.

 

The NSG commandoes demonstrated many skills such as anti-hostage operation drill, aerial acts. He said that our neighbor has made a state policy to aid, abet, fund, and train terrorism. Capacity building of state police forces is need of the hour. NSG is training state police forces now.

 

Vice President Naidu has also released a postal cover of NSG on this Occasion and said that Entire nation is proud of NSG. I pay homage to 19 Brave Martyrs of NSG, who made supreme sacrifice in the line of duty, upholding highest traditions of valor and sacrifice.

 

With the motto of Sarvatra Sarvottam Surakhsha which means Omnipresent Omnipotent Defense, the primary role of this Force is to combat terrorism in whatever form it may assume in areas where the activity of terrorists assumes serious proportions, and the State Police and other Central Police Forces cannot cope up with the situation. The NSG personnel is also referred as Black Cats because of the black dress and black cat insignia worn on their uniform.
