Odisha set to fast track the implementation of large investment projects

Bhubaneswar, October 17: Review meeting was held by the Project Monitoring Group of Prime Minister’s Office under the chairmanship of Odisha Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi which directed to fast track the implementation of large investment projects. Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi directed the concerned department and project proponents to keep up constant monitoring at the execution level for completion of the projects within scheduled limits. 

Addressing the media, Chief Secretary Padhi said that today we reviewed 26 projects including of mainly Railways, national highways and coal mine projects.

Further, Padhi said, “This meeting will be held regularly in every two months. The implementation issues raised by the project developers will be discussed and resolved. Today’s review showed that the projects are on the timeline and the issues raised by some project implanting agencies have been resolved completely.”

In the 1st session, a total of 16 railways and national highway projects were looked in. the major railway projects reviewed included Khordha-Bolangir new broad gauge railway with project cost of Rs 3550 Crores, doubling of Sambalpur-Bamur line with project cost of Rs 1111 Crores, Haridaspur-Paradip new line with project cost of Rs 1000 Crores, Talcher-Bimilagarh new line with estimated cost of Rs 810.78 Crores and Angul-Sukinda new line project with estimated cost of Rs 638.5 Crores.

The National highway projects reviewed, included 6-laning of Chandikhol-Jagatpur-Bhubaneswar section of NH-5 with estimated cost of Rs 1047 Crores, Balasore-Jharpokharia NH with project cost of around Rs 700 Crores, Teleibani-Sambalpur section of NH-6 with estimated cost of Rs 752 Crores, Binhjabahal-Teleibani section of NH-6 with estimated cost of Rs 1057 Crores, Baharagora-Singara section of NH-6 with estimated cost of Rs 734 Crores, 6-laning of Bhubaneswar-Chandikhol section of NH-5 with an estimated cost of Rs 1047 Crores, Singara-Binhjabahal section of NH-6 with estimated cost of Rs 1082.36 Crores, Biramitrapur-Barkot highway project with estimated cost of Rs 778.15 crore, Chandikhol-Duburi-Talcher NH with estimated cost of Rs 996, Angul-SambalpurToll road project involving investment of Rs 1220 Crores, Panikoili-Rimuli NH with project cost of Rs 1410 Crores.

In the 2nd session, the progress of around 11 coal and power projects including Rengali Irrigation Project was reviewed. The major projects were Rengali Irrigation Project, coal mining projects of MCL, like Bhubaneswari OCP, Balaram OCP, Siarmala OCP, Samaleswari OCP, Kaniha OCP, Garjanbahal OCP, Orient UG block-1, 2, 3 & 4, OGPTL power Transmission Line, Darlipali STPP and Lanco Babandh Power Ltd.
