Ludhiana (Punjab), Oct 17: A senior Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) worker was shot dead in Ludhiana near his house Tuesday morning by unidentified assailants.

According to sources, Ravindra Gosai, ‘Mukhyashikshak’ of Mohan Shakha in Shivpuri area of Ludhiana was returning home after attending the morning shakha as usual. When the 58-year-old Gosai reached near his house some unidentified assailants shot him dead.

The assailants fired two bullets in his neck and back and fled. The 58-year-old RSS leader died on the spot. No arrests have been made yet, but the police said they had started an investigation, reported India Today.

Gosai lived in Ludhiana’s Gaganjit Colony. His son Deepak Kumar said the assailants had arrived on a motorcycle. “I was inside the house when this happened,” he told The Indian Express. “I thought some children must be bursting firecrackers. When we came out, he was lying in pool of blood.”

The Basti Jodhewal Police registered a First Information Report against unidentified persons.

Punjab Prant Sanghchalak Sardar Brij Bhushan Singh Bedi strongly condemned this heinous attack on RSS worker and demanded that Punjab government should bring the perpetrators of this crime to book at the earliest.

This is the second such incident in Punjab. Earlier, a Sanghchalak was shot at by unknown assailants. He later succumbed to the injuries. Punjab is relatively violence-free state as compared to Kerala where the Communist cadre had opened a systematic violent campaign against the RSS workers.
