To empower visually impaired individuals, North India Blind Cricket Tournament to be organized in Uttarakhand

Dehradun, October 18: The North India Blind Cricket Tournament is organized first time in Dehradun between 23 to 26 October on various cricket grounds of the capital. The Tournament consists of eight states and more than 100 players will be participating in this competition.

 

The Purpose of the tournament is to empower visually impaired individuals by enhancing their self-esteem and confidence through competitive game of cricket and also providing opportunity to showcase talent of youths at state, national and international level tournaments

According to the local media, the authorized person of the tournament and also the Director of Uttarakhand Science Education and Research Centre (USERC) said that along with Uttarakhand, the teams of Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Punjab, Chandigarh, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh will participate.

The Four-day Competition will be played in the Maharana Pratap Sports Stadium and on Rangers Ground of Uttarakhand. He further stated that the performers will also the opportunity to play in World cup for the Indian team.

The 2018 Blind Cricket Tournament is to be held in Dubai for which the selection process of the players is yet to be started. The General Secretary of Cricket Association of Blind in Delhi (CABD) Shailender said that the performers of the tournament will be selected for the special training camp. In 2017 World Cup the India team had defeated Pakistan by nine wickets.
