Odisha police issued necessary guidelines to celebrate hassle-free yet safe Diwali

Cuttack, October 18: On the auspicious occasion of Diwali and Kali Puja, Odisha police issued necessary guidelines for hassle-free celebrations. The Director General & Inspector General Police, Rajendra Prasad Sharma, asked all the SPs to make adequate arrangements for the upcoming festivities.


 

He directed to make necessary police arrangement to regulate crowd at Puja Mandaps and precautionary measures should be taken against mischief mongers. Following measures are suggested to ensure safe celebration of Diwali and put a check on air pollution caused by fireworks and crackers.

  • Legal and unauthorized sale of fireworks/crackers should be prohibited completely.
  • Conditions imposed by licensing authority regarding setting up cracker shops, distanc3e between shops, fire safety measures should be strictly followed.
  • Only permitted and branded fireworks/crackers should be allowed to sell to the public.
  • Sale of crackers above 65 decibels of sound and dangerous fireworks like rockers/movable fireworks should be stopped.
  • Health department officials of their respective jurisdiction have to ensure the functioning of burn ward and emergency medical arrangements in hospitals.
  • The ambulance service should be made promptly available.
