Gurez, October 20: Every person has immersed himself in the ‘Festival of Lights’, lights and colours everywhere, decors of beautiful lamps, rangolis and our people complete our celebration of togetherness. But what about the souls who are far away on the borders guarding us, our families? The soldiers who are responsible for our safety? Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the fourth consecutive year celebrated this Diwali with the soldiers. Yay! Happy Diwali from us too, Bravehearts.

We crack crackers, while our brace soldiers actually explode grenades, explosives …Isn’t that actually the ‘Diwali’ for them every day? Putting their life in the door of death, soldiers protect us from our enemies.

Saluting the bravery of troops, PM Narendra Modi on Thursday said the presence of brave soldiers at the border lights the lamp of hope. "I have an opportunity to spend Diwali with you. The presence of brave soldiers at the border, on this festive occasion, lights the lamp of hope, and generates new energy among Crores of Indians," PM Modi said.

While addressing the troops of the army and Border Security Force (BSF) in the Gurez Valley along the Line of Control (LoC) in North Kashmir's Bandipora district PM Modi celebrated Diwali with soldiers. Like everyone else, PM Modi too wished to spend Diwali with his family. Therefore, he came to meet the Jawans.

"Glad to have celebrated Diwali with our brave Army and BSF Jawans in the Gurez Valley, Jammu and Kashmir," he tweeted. “Our Forces protect our Motherland with utmost valour, displaying highest traditions of sacrifice and dedication," he added.

Donning an army camouflage jacket, the Prime Minister mingled with soldiers and exchanged sweets to celebrate Diwali. The Prime Minister also expressed happiness that the soldiers were practising yoga regularly. "Spending time with our Forces gives me new energy. We exchanged sweets & interacted. Happy to know the Jawans practice Yoga regularly", he said. "Yoga has played a big and important part in my life. I get a lot of energy from it. People also ask me how I run in this age. Those who desire to leave the army after three or five years, they should train themselves in their last tenure as yoga trainer", he said.

No one will ever reach an even bit of dedication of a SOLDIER ...!! For our tomorrow, he willingly, selflessly, unpretentiously, gives his today, but asks for nothing in return. Apolitical by nature, he knows he will get nothing from uncaring politicians and scheming civil servants. If he frets about anything at all, it is about the national leadership’s callousness in failing to erect a befitting war memorial to commemorate the supreme sacrifice made by his fallen comrades. He gives so much, gets so little in return, and yet serves with a smile. He is the ideal Indian who has knit India together. If there is some truth in the phrase “kuchh baat hai jo hasti mit-ti nahin hamari” (there is something about us that we cannot be destroyed), it is because of his indomitable courage and his immeasurable sacrifices.

Bravehearts, on behalf of civilians we all salute you. We all owe our freedom to you as you guard us and our nation.
