Judicial Review Board of Pakistan extended 30-days house arrest of Hafiz Saeed

Lahore, October 20: The Judicial Review Board of Pakistan's Punjab province has extended another 30 days house arrest of Mumbai attack mastermind Hafiz Saeed on Thursday. While his four subordinates were not allowed in the custody by the board. From October 24, the 30-day detention will be applicable.

 

If Saeed’s four subordinates Abdullah Ubaid, Malik Zafar Iqbal, Abdul Rehman Abid and Qazi Kashif Hussain will not be detained in any other case then they may walk freely on the expiry of their September 25 detention order. Saeed along with his four aides was presented before the three-member Punjab Judicial Review Board comprising Justice Yawar Ali (head), Justice Abdul Sami and Justice Alia Neelam on Thursday.

According to the local media, after the hearing court official told that under the public safety law Home Department of Punjab government had sought three months extension to the detention of Saeed and others. The board also was not convinced for keeping Saeed’s four aides in detention after the expiry of September 25 detention order for a month. 

Hafiz Saeed is the co-founder of Lashkar-e-Taiba and the chief or amir of Jama'at-ud-Da'wah, which operates mainly from Pakistan and sanctions have been placed by the United Nations against it as a terrorist organization.
