Bhubaneswar, October 20: The first phase of Piped Natural Gas supply system in Bhubaneswar was inaugurated by the Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Friday. Eco-friendly PNG will be supplied to 255 houses in Nalco Nagar in Chandrasekharpur of Bhubaneswar.

 

Addressing the event Pradhan said that this Unit is the heart of PNG Supply in the area. Happy to be a part of the dedication of a park in Nalco Nagar named after Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay. The fitting tribute to a great personality. Our target is to cover more than 50000 households & industrial units in next few years.

 

He further added that City Gas Distribution (CGD) network in the twin cities will cover 45000 Vehicles in Bhubaneswar and 18000 vehicles in Cuttack over next few years. Under the ambitious Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga, 769 KM Pipeline in Odisha will cover 13 districts & connect all Major Industrial Clusters. UrjaGanga will also supply Gas to Major Industrial Customers in Odisha such as SAIL besides reviving the defunct Talcher Fertiliser Plant.

 

By the end of 2018, about 25,000 households would get PNG connection in twin-city Bhubaneswar and Cuttack as it is a part of the City Gas Distribution project. Bhubaneswar and Cuttack gas distribution projects will cost around Rs. 1700 crore as an overall expenditure and in the next three to five years around Rs. 400 crore will be spent.
