US top official Rex Tillerson to visit India for strengthening bilateral ties

Washington, October 20: The United States Secretary of State Rex Tillerson will visit India with an aim to strengthen and boost bilateral ties and relationships between the two countries. Notably, the visit of top US official to India is a part of his tour to the Middle East and Asian countries that will commence from 20th October and conclude on 27th October.

 

U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson is visiting India at the invitation of Indian Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj and will hold consultations with the ministry of external affairs and other government leaders.Rex Tillerson will also hold discussions on strengthening bilateral ties and relationships between the two countries.

During his visit to New Delhi, Rex Tillerson is also likely to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and will pay his respects at the memorial of Mahatma Gandhi. U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson will visit Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Pakistan, India and Switzerland in a week-long trip starting on Friday with an aim to strengthen bilateral ties, discuss joint counterterrorism efforts and other important regional issues etc. His trip, scheduled for Oct. 20-27, also marks Tillerson's first visit to South Asia as secretary.


During his visit to Geneva, Switzerland, the Secretary will meet with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, International Organization for Migration and the International Committee of the Red Cross to discuss Afghanistan and Pakistan and also a number of current global humanitarian crises, such as Burma and also Syria.
