SANKALP, STRIVE schemes to boost Skill India Mission

New Delhi, October 20: For the proper utilization of Youth’s capability the government has approved an amount of Rs. 6,655 crore. The Skill India Mission will also be boosted with the help of two schemes SANKALP and STRIVE that have been launched through New India

The Sum of Rs.4,455 crore has been allocated for Skills Acquisition and Knowledge Awareness for Livelihood Promotion (SANKALP) scheme which will be used for setting up trainers with self-sustainable models.

 

While the remaining amount of Rs. 2,200 crore has been allocated for Skill Strengthening for Industrial Value Enhancement (STRIVE) scheme which aims at motivating to improve the overall performance by involving SMEs and Industry clusters. The World Bank is funding both the schemes.

Skill India is a campaign launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in July 2015 which aims at training over 40 crore people in India in different skills by 2022. This campaign includes various initiatives of the government like National Skill Development Mission, National Policy for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship 2015, Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) and the Skill Loan scheme.
