New Delhi, October 20: After taking the notice of the petition filed by the Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on for disqualification of party leaders Sharad Yadav and Ali Anwar Ansari for defection, the Rajya Sabha Secretariat has issued a show cause notice against them. The Two JD (U) leaders will have to appear before the Rajya Sabha Chairman on 30th October in his chamber in Parliament to present their case.

The two MPs have shown their rebellious side when Nitish Kumar broked away with coalition partners RJD and Congress and went to the BJP led National Democratic Alliance in July this year. While Ansari is set to retire in April next year, Yadav's term is up to 2022 in Rajya Sabha.

For allegedly indulging in anti-party activities and voluntarily quitting the party, the JD (U) had appealed to the Rajya Sabha Chairman to disqualify Yadav and Ansari. Not referring to the Privileges Committee for preliminary examination first, the Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu has decided to dispose of the case himself as he is being the competent authority.
