BJP leader Ananth Kumar Hegde says no to Tipu Jayanti

Bengaluru, Oct 21: Expressing displeasure over the controversial Tipu Jayanti celebration organized by Karnataka Government, senior BJP leader and Union Ananth Kumar Hegde asked state government officials to exclude his name from the state-sponsored Tipu Jayanti celebration which will be held on November 10.

In an official communication, the Skill Development minister has asked District Collector of Uttara Kannada not include his name for the official event. In 2015 three people lost their lives in clashes in Kodagu in the major clash between BJP and Congress over the celebrations of Tipu Sultan Jayanti.


 

Responding to the development, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said, "As part of the government, he shouldn't have written it," Slamming Hegde for politicizing the issue the Chief Minister stated that the invitation will be sent out to all the central and state leaders and added that it is up to them to accept or not.
