Tokyo, October 23: Japan Prime Minister Shinzo Abe witnessed a historic victory in Japan’s national election. The lower house election in Japan took place on Sunday. After the win, the nationalist leader pledged to “deal firmly” with North Korea. World leaders also welcomed the win of Shinzo Abe.

As per local media reports, the ruling Liberal Democratic Party secured 312 seats in the 465-seat with a small coalition. This huge majority of LDP will help Abe to bring a reform to the country's pacifist constitution. This is a longtime goal of Abe, who is most probably going to be Japan’s longest serving Prime Minister.

The Japanese Prime Minister, who is quite famous for his foreign policies, said the big win brings more responsibility for him to deal with North Korea. "As I promised in the election, my imminent task is to firmly deal with North Korea. For that, strong diplomacy is required," stressed Abe. "I think the results reflected the voters' preference for a solid political foundation and their expectations for us to push policies forward and achieve results," Abe told NHK.

Business leaders in Japan welcomed his victory. They think the win would ensure country’s political stability. “It is my hope that the Abe administration will continue to exert strong political leadership in tackling important policy issues at home and abroad," Sadayuki Sakakibara, chairman of the Japan Business Federation said.

Japan leader Abe who recently visited India is known as a friendly leader to India. During his regime, India-Japan bilateral relation progressed a lot. Hence Indian Prime minister Narendra Modi congratulated him on his big election win.
