Tokyo, October 23: The long-predicted Typhoon finally battered large area of Japan leaving at least 5 people dead. The powerful Typhoon has caused flooding and landslide. Typhoon Lan made landfall around 3 a.m. Monday on the Pacific coast of central Japan. Previously tens of thousands had been advised to evacuate.

Two rivers in Japan’s Nara Prefecture flooded. The season's typhoon brought particularly heavy rainfall in the western region. The transport services during rush hour including the Tokaido Shinkansen bullet train services between Tokyo and Osaka and some local trains in Tokyo and surrounding areas were disrupted. Some airlines such as Japan Airlines Co. and All Nippon Airways Co. canceled over 100 flights. More than 25000 passengers are now facing the problem.

After causing landslide and floods, the powerful Typhoon headed out to sea. When it made landfall, Lan had weakened to a category 2 storm. The center of the storm was out in the Pacific northeast of Tokyo on Monday afternoon.
