Achieving human dignity for everyone can lead to a peaceful world: Antonio Guterres sends out message on UN day

New York, October 24: Since when World War II ended, United Nation played the role of a fatherly institution in this world. After three years of its establishment, the celebration of UN day started. UN Day marks the anniversary of the entry into force of the UN charter in 1945.

This special day reminds us the aims and achievements of the organization. From solving several conflicts to feeding hungry people, protecting human rights, the contribution of United Nations is unquestionable. The theme of this year’s UN day concert is "Potential in Diversity".

The main aim of establishment of UN was to maintain peace after two devastating World Wars. But with time, the role has transcended from maintaining peace to protecting human rights, promoting social and economic development, and providing aid around the world in cases of famine, natural disaster, and armed conflict.

On UN day UN secretary general commented on the existing problems that the world needs will to solve all problems, the world has every tool. “We have to transcend our differences to transform our future. When we achieve human rights and human dignity for all people – they will build a peaceful, sustainable and just world. On United Nations Day, let us, ‘We the Peoples’, make this vision a reality,” UN Secretary general sends out this message on this special day.

Remembering the contribution of UN, Prime Minister Modi has appreciated UN's efforts in promoting world peace and laud the wide range of initiatives under its guidance. He also said that "India is proud of the steadfast support and active participation in several UN initiatives aimed at making our world a better place".
