French Open: Shuttler HS Prannoy cruises to pre-quarterfinals

Paris, October 25: Indian star shuttler HS Prannoy on Wednesday cruised into the pre-quarterfinals of the French Open Superseries Premier Badminton tournament being held in Paris, France. Notably, HS Prannoy defeated Lee Hyun Il of Korea comprehensively by 21-15 21-17 in a match lasted for less than an hour.

 

The Indian got off to a quick start with an aggressive game against Lee Hyun Il and earned crucial points at every interval. Lee Hyun Il tried hard to make a comeback but Prannoy continued his aggressive game and won the match easily to proceed in pre-quarterfinals.

 

On the other side, another Indian Sai Praneeth defeated K.Phetpratpra of Thailand in a close encounter and moved into the next round. However, in women's Singles draw Rio Olympics and World Championship silver medalist PV Sindhu will begin her campaign against Beatriz Corrales of Spain, while Saina Nehwal will face Danish Line Hojmark Kjaesfeldt.

 

Kidambi Srikanth who won Denmark Open title few days before will start his campaign against Fabian Roth of Germany. Kidambi has won two titles back to back in a year. In the Men's doubles, the duo of Manu Attri and Reddy B. Summet will clash with the Russian pair of Vladimir Ivanov and Ivan Sozonov and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty will meet French duo Bastian Kersandy and Julien Maio. While in the Women's doubles, Ashwani Ponnappa and Reddi N Sikki will face English duo of Jenny Moore and Victoria William.
