New Delhi, Oct 26: Assuring full support for the most anticipated Polavaram project, Union water resources minister Nitin Gadkari reiterated that Central government would extend all support for the hassle-free roll out of Polavaram by 2019.

Speaking to the media the minister urged Andhra Pradesh government to establish a strong ecosystem for the purpose of systematic monitoring of the national project. Gadkari further mentioned that issues like land acquisition and rehabilitation should be addressed properly to avoid litigations.

Terming it as the “administrative matter” when asked about the difference between state and Central government on the finalizations of contractors for Polavaram, the Minister stated that amendment in existing plans would escalate the cost. Gadkari also requested the state government to sort out differences with the team of Transstroy.

According to media reports, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will take the final call after the due consultation with water resources ministry. Earlier Chandrababu called on Union water resources minister Nitin Gadkari at Nagpur and conveyed his reservations on Polearm. Naidu is currently on the three-nation tour.

As reported by The Hindu, a delegation of Andhra Pradesh state government comprising Water Resources Minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, Irrigation Secretary Shashi Bhushan Kumar and engineers of the State Water Resources Department met Gadkari to zero down the administrative hurdles in the multi-purpose irrigation project which has been accorded national project status by the Union government.
