Mumbai, October 26: From this time, SSC exam students will have to fill in Aadhaar details while filling examination forms. The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education introduced the rule last year but have made it mandatory this time.

In case a student has applied for Aadhaar card and hasn’t got it yet, he can submit the details of the application. If a student has not yet applied, the school principal will have to submit an undertaking that the details would be made available before the results. A ticker on the education department’s website says those candidates’ details for SSC forms will be updated as per details in SARAL database, which requires schools to provide students’ Aadhaar card details.

Though a recent circular says students will not be stopped from filling application forms in the absence of Aadhaar, principals feel results might be withheld. Krishnakumar Patil, secretary of the state board, said, “We will ensure students are not at a loss. We need Aadhaar details to create data. It is in line with the government requirements.”
