Notably, the raids at the residence of Syed Shahid Yousuf came two days after NIA arrested him in a six-year-old terror funding case. The central probe agency has seized mobile phones, laptops, hard disks and several incriminating documents.

Earlier, with an aim to curb terror funding and subversive activities in Jammu and Kashmir, the NIA arrested the Hizbul Mujahideen chief Syed Salahuddin's son Shahid Yousuf in connection with terror funding case. Shahid Yousuf was arrested by NIA after he failed to appear before central probe agency for questioning in a case registered against Hizbul Mujahideen in New Delhi in the year 2011. He was served the summons on October 16 to present himself before NIA investigators at their New Delhi office on October 24, Tuesday.

During questioning, Syed Shahid Yousuf admitted having received funds from cadres of Hizbul Mujahideen terror organization in the direction of his father Syed Salahuddin. Shahid Yousuf also admitted that funds were received to foment terrorist activities in the valley. He also revealed names of his associates abroad associated with the Hizbul Mujahideen who were involved in raising, collecting and transferring funds from abroad to India.

On Wednesday, after his confession in front of central probe agency, a Delhi Court has sent Syed Shahid Yousuf to seven days NIA custody in connection with a 2011 terror funding case for receiving money from his father.

Yousuf was found to be in touch with Saudi Arabia-based Hizbul Mujahideen operative Aijaz Ahmad Bhat, who is also an accused in the terror funding case and had received money to allegedly create unrest and terrorist activities in Jammu and Kashmir region.

Shahid Yousuf is a resident of Soibugh Budgam. Shahid is the third son of known terrorist Syed Salahuddin who is also a supreme commander of the United Jihad Council which is a conglomerate of more than twelve terrorist outfits. Shahid has a Masters in Agriculture from a university outside Jammu and Kashmir and he was regularised in the state’s agriculture department in March this year, after 8 years of service.
