MoS Defense says true self-reliance in Defense; will flow out of fully home-grown technology

New Delhi, October 26: Dr. Subhash Bhamre, state Defense minister, inaugurated a seminar on Solutions to Problem Statements with a theme ‘Indigenous Technological Empowerment of the Indian Army’. On this occasion he said that each and every sector should have a primary concern for indigenization likewise it is important for the defence sector of the nation as it leads to self-reliance which is critical to national security.

 

He further opined that all stakeholders must fully absorb the importance of Indigenisation and must implement in ‘Make in India’ initiative. He appreciated that the Indian Army has created the Army Design Bureau, a unique organisation to facilitate interaction and seek participation of the Indian industry and the academic community and also organised a series of initiatives towards this objective.

He further stated the importance of technology in warfare. “True self-reliance in Defense, therefore will flow out of fully home-grown technology”, he said. There were several initiatives launched by the government to develop technologies in niche sectors like defense and aerospace he added. He said initiatives like the Skill India and Startup India will further create the necessary eco-system in the defense sector to realize a fully Made in India platform.

The Chief of the Army Staff General Bipin Rawat, Secretary General, FICCI Dr. Sanjaya Baru, CMD Bharat Forge Ltd Baba N Kalyani and Lt Gen (Retd) Subrata Saha spoke on the occasion. The function was attended by other dignitaries.
