Kolkata, October 27: Under-17 World Cup hosted by India is praised by the FIFA for its quality of football as well as the organization of the tournament. Addressing India as a Football nation, FIFA on Thursday said that the Country is capable of hosting more FIFA tournaments in the future.

The FIFA addressing the press conference in Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan Stadium with All India Football Federation (AIFF) President Praful Patel, FIFA Head of Competitions Jaime Yarza said that all the teams were happy with the organization and infrastructure of the first-ever FIFA tournament held in India.

Head of FIFA Tournaments, Jaime Yarza said that the figures speak for themselves, more than 1.2 million fans attended games at the stadiums. By the final match day, we are probably going to break the attendance record of all the other U-17 World Cups and we might even break the record for the U-20 World Cup, which is an amazing achievement.

Chairman of AIFF, Praful Patel said that we have invested heavily in our grassroots development projects, and the principle reason why we hosted this edition of the World Cup was to continue to keep our focus on the grassroots development and attract younger kids of all age groups to the game. We have bid for the FIFA U-20 World Cup to be hosted in 2019.

Director of the India 2017 LOC, Javier Ceppi said that the country knew that there was only one first time and this was the first time that India has hosted a FIFA tournament. Hopefully, India will get to host many other FIFA tournaments, but there is only one first time, so that was the sense of drive that we all had.

Spain and England will face each other in the Final at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata on Saturday. While the Brazil and Mali will be playing to secure the third spot.
