A Kali temple in Netrokona district of Bangladesh faces attack from unknown radicals; 4 idols smashed

Netrokona, October 27: In Bangladesh Islamic radicalism has become so prevalent that vandalizing Hindu properties, killing Hindu activist have become a common incident. Repeating the trend, a group of rouge has smashed the idols of a Kali temple in Netrokona, a district in Mymensingh division. This incident has created anger among local Hindu community.

A local resident Manik Sarkar who lives beside the Kali Temple said he went to his fishing farm around 3.00 am. Then he discovered four idols have been vandalized including a Kali idol, Radha-Krishna, and Jagai-Madhai idol. They used a long bamboo stick to invade the locked temple.The vandalized idols were on the floor of the temple in a bad condition.

The officer-in-charge of Netrokona police station has accepted the truthfulness of the incident. The case will be registered soon. This incident has created anger among Hindu community who keep facing such attacks in the country.

Same kind of incident happened in December 2016 a group of unidentified miscreants vandalized a temple in Netrakona and smashed three idols.
