Haridwar, October 28: Nearly 800 residents of a village named Gaindi Khata near haridwar have reported errors in their Aadhar cards. Going by their Aadhaar cards they share the same date of birth, January 1. Along with errors in birth dates some have also errors in ages as well, a grandmother’s age was put 22 whereas ages of some children were put between 15 to 60.

“Despite of submitting proper documents we have got the same birth date and when we received our Aadhaar cards, we were shocked to see that everybody had the same date of birth. In fact, the year of birth also does not match the one on our voter IDs and ration cards.” a resident of village said. This documentation was done with a private agency tasked with making Aadhaar cards.

As Aadhar card is considered as a basic requirement for every Indian citizen to have benefit from schemes of the education or health departments, villagers are worried they may be deprived from these schemes.

On the other side officials of Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) have refused to accept that mistakes have been made.

Similar errors have occurred in others parts of the country as well in kanjasa village in Allahabad and three villages in Agra district.
