Gandhinagar, October 28: Apprehension of two ISIS terrorists from Gujarat though is a strong success for security agencies but it is a warning too that the lethal terror outfit which is losing grounds in Iraq, Syria is now trying to gain power in India. Terrorists and terrorism always possess a great threat to national security but if those terrorists are one of the employees of such hospitals that belongs to any leader of a political party then it is shameful. As these political leaders are to serve nation protect the nation and not to employ such terrorists.

Notably, one of two terrorists who was apprehended by Anti-Terrorist Squad from Surat was the employee of the Sardar Patel Hospital in Ankleshwar town of Bharuch district whose former trustee was Ahmed Patel, a known Congress leader who is also close to party’s supreme leader Sonia Gandhi.

Police registers FIR against two IS terrorists

The Gujarat ATS arrested Mohammad Kasim Stimberwala and Ubed Ahmed Mirza for allegedly plotting ISIS-inspired lone-wolf terror attack on a synagogue in Ahmedabad. According to the FIR, Stimberwala resigned a day before and was planning and preparing for emigration (Hijrah) to Jamaica in immediate future and indulge in jihad under the guidance of Abdullah el-Faisal, a radical preacher based in Jamaica. The FIR also claims that Stimberwala was in touch with the preacher. The FIR further said that he had obtained a work visa for Jamaica “on a pretext of working as Echo-Cardiogram Technician in a hospital in Jamaica.

Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani Press Conference

Seeking the resignation of Ahmed Patel, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani on Friday said that the hospital that employed one of the two youths arrested for suspected ISIS links in Gujarat was being “managed” by Patel. CM Rupani also asked for the explanation from Ahmed Patel over the circumstances behind employing the youth and why the accused resigned days before he was arrested.

The Chief Minister also congratulated Gujarat ATS for having caught two terrorists Ubed Mirza And Kasim Steamerwala. “Had it not been so, a big disaster would have happened,” Rupani said. He said that the terrorists had planned to attack a Hindu Godman, Hindu shrines and a synagogue. “They were well-prepared with passports and visas to flee abroad,” Rupani added.

“Ahmed Patel is the person running the show at the hospital in Bharuch where Kasim was employed as , a laboratory technician. Patel was earlier a trustee of the hospital from which he resigned in 2014. However, he continued to run the administration of the hospital where President Pranab Mukherjee was invited to inaugurate the premises in 2016,” CM Rupani noted.

Ahmed Patel’s clarification

Congress leader Ahmed Patel immediately tweeted saying that the allegations put forward by BJP are completely baseless and further requested that matters of national security not be politicised keeping elections in mind. Ahmed Patel also requested on twitter saying, “Let’s not divide peace loving Gujaratis while fighting terrorism”. However, he also appreciated ATS’s effort to nab the two terrorists and demanded strict and speedy action against them.

In such serious concern, rather posting some tweets Ahmed Patel would have come from the front and clarify or answer the question of people. Unfortunately, Ahmed Patel fails to do this while the whole Congress party is cowardly trying to politicize the matter saying before elections such terrorists are nabbed and linking this concern with upcoming polls and launches series of allegations on BJP.

Congress comes in action to rescue Ahmed Patel

Congress in-charge of communications Randeep Surjewala came to the defence of Patel, saying neither he nor any of his family members was a trustee of the Bharuch Hospital where the alleged terrorist was working. "The truth is that Vijay Rupani and his government fired upon and killed farmers in Dahod in Gujarat. The BJP is trying to divert attention," he alleged.

"A frustrated BJP facing imminent defeat in Gujarat is resorting to levelling reckless and baseless allegations against Ahmed Patel," he said. Sardar Vallabhai Patel Hospital is a charitable hospital and it has between 150-200 employees, including doctors and technicians, he said.

"The BJP is being shown the door by 6.5 crore Gujaratis and a defeated BJP is clutching onto the polarising straws of blatant lies to reset the agenda. It will never succeed in its sinister conspiracies," the Congress leader said. He said the BJP should stop preaching about fighting terrorism to anyone.

Media’s irresponsible reporting

The IS terrorist apprehension is a matter of serious concern and national security. However, few irresponsible media channels and news agencies are trying to politicize the concern and are linking this in a fight between BJP and Congress ahead of Gujarat polls.
