Mumbai, October 28: Finally the efforts are yielding the expected outputs as the Chief Minister Fadnavis came out with a final first list of 2.39 lakh beneficiaries and started releasing funds also. Rs 899.12 crore will be required to give out the benefit of loan waiver. The list of genuine farmers was drawn separately with an intention of proper disbursement of the desired scheme for the farmers. State officials said that of the 2.39 lakh accounts, 1.01 lakh are of debt-ridden farmers, for which the government will be disbursing Rs 671.16 crore.

The remaining 1.38 lakh are accounts that will get the cash-back incentive of up to Rs 25,000 for regularly repaying loans the government will require Rs 227.95 for this. Officials said that Rs 392 crore was being transferred to 11 banks and that the remaining money would be transferred by Saturday or Monday morning.

“We have verified this list multiple times before it was made public on Friday. It is a complete and error-free list,” said a senior official.

The state, which has received 56.59 lakh applications covering 77.29 lakh accounts, has made a budgetary provision of Rs 20,000 crore for the scheme.

This announcement comes days after the scheme was rolled out on October 18, a day before Diwali. Over 1 Crore applications got registered online for Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Shetkari Sanman Yojana and now actual disbursement would start from 18 October 2017, was informed by CM Fadnavis.

By 15 November, 80% of the eligible farmers would have received their loan waiver benefits, the Chief Minister assured. When the loan waiver was announced, the government said it would benefit nearly 8.9 million farmers, based on data shared by the State Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC). Aadhaar number and bank accounts have helped the government identify at least 1.5 million accounts that belong to farmers who are not eligible for loan waiver. Asked if there would be action against these account holders, CM Fadnavis said the priority right now was delivering the loan waiver benefits to the deserving farmers. CM Devendra Fadnavis said the state had nearly 13.6 million farmers and more than 10 million of them had enrolled in the scheme by undergoing biometric identification. Back in the month of June, CM Fadnavis announced the historic loan waiver for its farmers after Uttar Pradesh did the same.
