Launching ‘Technocity’ in Kerala, Prez Kovind expressed confidence of new opportunities for young minds

Thiruvananthapuram, October 28: “Historically, Kerala is a land of spiritualism, the emphasis on human development and on health-care and education in Kerala has set an example for the rest of the country,” said President Ram Nath Kovind said while addressed a civic reception hosted for him at Tagore Theatre, Thiruvananthapuram. 

Also, President Kovind launched the Technocity project and laid the foundation stone of the first government building in Technocity. Speaking on this occasion, the President said that Kerala’s strengths in basic literacy and skills and the experience of Kerala’s people in the services sector and in consumer-driven industries – make this state a natural for an IT ecosystem. He stated that IT is not just important in itself. It is a force multiplier for the entire services economy. It has played a game-changing role in health-care, education, tourism and many other industries. These areas are Kerala’s strengths. He was confident that the development of Technocity will provide new opportunities for the young people of Kerala.

 

Without the hard work of our brothers and sisters from Kerala, the economies of the United Arab Emirates and other Gulf countries would not be the same. Kerala migrant workers in those countries also contribute to the development of India by unfailingly sending back foreign exchange. We cannot forget them or their immense role in nation building, President added.

Prior to this launch, addressing the civic reception President Kovind lauded the spiritual importance of Kerala state saying that historically Kerala is a land of spiritualism, with a tradition of spiritual leadership and social reform extending from Adi Shankaracharya to Sri Narayana Guru to Ayyankali and so many others.

Praising the administration, President Kovind said that in sanitation, Kerala’s achievements are praiseworthy. In local self-government and Panchayati raj, again Kerala has deepened our democracy. Not only are the people of Kerala educated and knowledgeable, they are willing to use that education and knowledge to venture out and to help build our nation and to contribute to the well-being and the prosperity of other regions.
