900 cubic feet of water to be released for irrigation purpose in TN

Chennai, October 28: For irrigation purposes, the release of 900 cubic feet of water per day for four months has been ordered by the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palanisamy. The monsoon from North East is strongly headed towards Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The water will be released from the Vaigai dam on 1st of next month.

 

About 45,041acres of agricultural lands in Madurai, Theni and Dindigul districts of the state will be benefited. The Mullaperiyar Dam which is on the border of Kerala and Tamil Nadu has reached the level of 121.8 feet due to the heavy rains in Kerala.

The opening of the Katana, Atavinayinarkvil, and Ramanadi dams for four months has also ordered by CM as the inflow of 900 feet per second into the dam is reported due to which 32,025 acres of agricultural land will be benefited.
