Bengaluru, Oct 29: Taking a very strong exception to the statements of senior Congress party leaders on national security matters, Prime Minister Narendra Modi Sunday lashed out at them for making ‘irresponsible’ statements.

On reaching Bengaluru airport, Prime Minister Modi was given a grand reception by the BJP. Addressing the cheering crowd of BJP workers, Prime Minister said that the Congress was disconnected with the aspirations of our country.

Referring to the statement of senior Congress leader and former Union Minster P Chidambaram on Kashmir issue, the Prime Minister said that the statement clearly showed how the party felt on the surgical strikes and the bravery of Indian army.

It may be recalled that P Chidambaram who was the Home and Finance Minister during the UPA rule, said when people of Jammu and Kashmir ask for “azadi”, most of them mean they want greater autonomy.

Senior BJP leaders including Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Dr Subramaniam Swamy and I & B Minister Smriti Irani had criticized the senior Congress leader’s utterances on the sensitive issue of Kashmir.

The Prime Minister asked the audience at Bengaluru airport whether they remember the lies the Congress was spreading on Doklam. He said that the Congress will have to answer for the recent statements of their leaders on Kashmir and other issues of national importance.

Rejecting the statements summarily, the Prime Minister said such statements were “unacceptable”.

Modi wondered why the Congress leaders were lending their voice to those protagonists of Azadi in Kashmir and termed it as an “insult to our brave soldiers”.

Amidst chanting of ‘Modi – Modi’ by the audience, the Prime Minster said that people have no expectations from the Congress party.
