Catalonia Independence: People United to protest against splitting with Spain

Barcelona, October 30: On 28th October, Catalonia was declared independent due to the rise of constitutional crisis which led the separatists to vote for independence. But on Sunday, Thousands of people have united on Barcelona’s streets to oppose the split of Catalonia from Spain.

 

According to the local media, the crowd included parents, young children, retired couples and large groups of youths, made its way along the city's Passeig de Gracia Avenue. After the Catalonia's parliament dissolved, the new regional elections have been called on December 21. Municipal police said the crowd numbered about 300,000. About 1.3 million turned out and the central government's representative in Catalonia put the figure at one million.

After an emergency cabinet meeting, Catalan leader Carles Puigdemont and his executive were also removed by the Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy. In an opinion poll published on Sunday, the protest against the split of Catalonia from Spain, Political parties had a lead of small margin.

This is the first in the four decades, the regional election has been called on to solve the country's political crisis. For Spain's unity, European countries, the United States and Mexico have expressed support and rejected the Catalan declaration of independence.
