Haryana govt to engage 15000 apprentices in various departments

Chandigarh, October 30: To strengthen the manpower of various departments of Haryana government, 15,000 apprentices will be engaged from December. A sum of Rs 31.64 crore has been allocated by the Finance Department for this purpose. Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said the Skill Development and Industrial Department would be the nodal department for monitoring engagement of apprentices.

According to the decision taken by the government, all departments are required to immediately engage apprentices to the extent of 10 percent of their total manpower, including contractual or outsourced employees, working at directorates and in field offices.

Apprentices will be paid stipend during the training period. During the first year of training, 70 percent of minimum wages of semi-skilled workers notified by the state will be paid and during the second year of training, it will be 80 percent of the minimum wages of the semi-skilled worker.

Various departments and public sectors like universities, boards, corporations, councils, nigams, agencies, municipal corporations, and committees are also required to engage apprentices in the prescribed numbers and pay the stipend.

A workshop in all departments and boards and corporations will be held on Nov 2 for implementation of this scheme in time bound manner. Nodal Officers designated by all departments and boards and corporations for the implementation of this scheme have been invited to participate in this workshop.
