Mogadishu, October 30: Just within a month of deadliest car bomb attacks in the Somali capital Mogadishu, the country faced another barbaric attack from extremists. 5 extremist attackers stormed a hotel, Naasa- Hablood in Mogadishu. The hotel is located near Somalia’s presidential palace. Before entering the hotel they denoted two car bombs leaving at least 27 people.

The attacks have taken away the lives of top Somali officials including Somali Parliament Abdinasir Garane, southwest region minister Madoobe Nuunow, and a police official, according to Mohamed and Major Ahmed Ibrahim.

Immediately after the attack, the al-Qaeda linked group Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility on one of its websites 55 minutes. The attackers used identity cards from the country’s intelligence service to gain access to the building. Even the attackers were dressed in intelligence service uniforms. Hence they did not attack from any force.

“They had ID cards which had clear information such as names, ranks, and photos so no police officer could stop them,” said a senior intelligence officer, Col Ahmed Yare.

This great failure of intelligence agency has shaken the faith of common people on the system. To restore the trust, the government fired two of the country’s most senior security officials followed by a cabinet vote. It has become a usual trend of Al-Shabaab to attack or target the high-profile areas of Mogadishu.
