Dubai, October 30: The gem of Indian cricket, current captain of India Cricket team Virat Kohli has again acquired the top spot on the ranking chart of the global batsman. Just 10 days after losing the position to South Africa batsman AB de Villiers, he has regained the position. Even in terms of the rating point, he has reached a high position in his career, by reaching 889 points.

An overall tally of 263 runs in the three-match series against New Zealand backed him to reach this position. In case of rating points, he has even gone past the Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar. "The previous highest points tally of 887 was managed by Sachin Tendulkar in 1998 and by Kohli earlier this year," the ICC said in a statement. India won the series 2-1 against New Zealand on Sunday.

Another gem Rohit Sharma has also shown significant performance reaching 799 points though he remains at 7th position. Rohit Sharma’s 174 runs in the series against New Zealand, which included a fine 147 in the final match has helped him to reach the position.

Despite the success of various players, the team as a whole India could not acquire the 1st position. “India’s series win over New Zealand was not enough for them to overtake South Africa, who hold the top ranking in the MRF Tyres ICC ODI Team Rankings,” ICC statement said.
