Brisbane, October 31: Indian shooter Heena Sidhu on Tuesday bagged the gold medal in the women's 10m Air Pistol event at the Commonwealth Shooting Championships, Brisbane. Notably, Heena Sidhu continued her good form and scored 240.8 points in the final and clinched the gold medal.

Heena Sidhu defeated Australian Elena Galiabovitch who shot 238.2 to settle for silver in the summit clash of the tournament while Kristy Gillman of Australia settled for silver after scoring 213.7 points. On the other side, Deepak Kumar won a bronze in the men’s category of 10m Air Rifle event.

Unfortunately, London Olympic bronze-medalist Gagan Narang finished fourth in the same event after scoring 626.2 in the qualification to create Commonwealth record. Also, Ravikumar ended fifth. Earlier in the month, Sidhu, paired with Jitu Rai at the ISSF World Cup final in New Delhi had won a gold medal for India. The pair had finished with 483.4 points to beat France with 481.1.

Importantly, this was her third gold with Rai after the duo had claimed the top spots in the same event at the ISSF World Cup in Delhi in February and ISSF World Cup Rifle/Pistol series in Gabala, Azerbaijan. The mixed team competitions were organized as test events in the ISSF World Cup held earlier this year and will be making their Olympic debut in the Tokyo 2020 Games.
