Myanmar State Counselor Suu Kyi invites ethnic armed organizations to join peace process anytime

Yangon, October: The noble peace prize winner Aung San Suu Kyi, state counselor of Myanmar has again called for initiating a peace process and welcomed ethnic armed organizations which had not yet signed Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement to join the reconciliation process.

Suu Kyi again emphasized that the door of reconciliation is always open for everyone. Any groups can join the peace process at any time. On Monday she was addressing at the opening session of the 12th meeting of Union Peace Dialogue Joint Committee (UPDJC) held at National Reconciliation and Peace Centre (NRPC).

“We always open our doors for political negotiations and 21st Panglong Peace Conference. This is our policy and principle. We always welcome those groups who want to join the peace process at any time,” Suu Kyi said. “I request UPDJC members to help remaining EAOs which have not yet signed NCA to join the peace process,” Aung San Suu Kyi added.

The two-day long meeting will continue till 31st October. She also stressed the need for drawing up Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to be able to implement the agreements effectively and to establish an office for the UNPDC.
