Dharmendra Pradhan requests states to review 5% VAT on fuel

New Delhi, Oct 4: A day after the announcement of a reduction in oil tariffs by the central government, Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has asked state governments to review the rates of VAT on fuel.

Speaking to the media Pradhan stated that in order to provide more relief to common citizens state government should review the existing tax policy on fuels. The minister has recommended the lowering of VAT levied on fuel by 5%.


Pradhan further narrated that the finance minister will be officially writing to all the states regarding fuel rates. Yesterday Modi government had cut excise duty on petrol and diesel by Rs 2 per.
