UP Ex-CM Akhilesh Yadav re-elected as SP president for five years
Lucknow, October 5: Former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Akhilesh Yadav has been re-elected as a national president of Samajwadi Party (SP) for five years during the national session held in Agra. Naresh Uttam Patel was elected as a state president in a session on a state level.
According to the local media, the tenure of the party president was for three years but now the changes have been made in the party’s constitution to increase the tenure to five years.
On becoming the President of the party the West Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee, Shivpal Yadav congratulated Akhilesh on his victory.
Preceded by Mulayam Singh Yadav, Akhilesh was elected as a Party President on 1st January 2017. Although, Mulayam was not present Akhilesh have mentioned his name in the while giving the speech that his good wishes are with us. Mulayam’s absence from the party has created the contentions to the level and Mulayam doesn't miss any chance to criticize the Party President.
The local media said that the speculations are been made that what will be the next step of Mulayam Yadav. But the founder of SP has already cleared the air that he is not going to make any other party.
The rift between son-father relations was started when Ramgopal who was very close to Akhilesh Yadav was expelled from the party on 23rd October 2016 for six years. Before this, some other close members were expelled from the party who were very close to ex-CM. But later on, Ramgopal was reinstated into the party due to which Mulayam expelled Akhilesh Yadav too from the Party for six years. While after some time he was reinstated.
